Cluttered Home And What It Says About Homeowners

By Elise Marshall

Clutter isn't a pretty thing to look at. It's messy and it's distracting. It can even drain our energy, or worst, make us feel depressed.

Yet despite the negative things that is associated with having a cluttered living space, why is it that the number of people that suffer from this habit continues to increase?

There are plenty of reasons why homeowners end up living in a cluttered abode. One thing's for sure though, a cluttered home could be a reflection of what's going on inside the homeowner's mind.

Personal beliefs, such as how one feels about change, how a person reacts to changes, and how a person view security, can be a factor on why a homeowner is occupying a cluttered home.

For instance, there are people that keep many different random things even when these are no longer useful because of their sentimental value. Some also keep items longer than they should for the fear of what might happen when they discard them.

Other people also do not believe that life will provide them with what they need most of the time. So they resort to buying things whenever they have the money without bothering to discard some of the items that are no longer useful to them. This combination will surely result in uncontrolled accumulation of things.

There are other forms of clutter, aside from physical clutter (things that you have). These include relationship clutter (people you spend time with), body clutter (clutter that accumulates in your body), mind clutter (things you think or believe) and time clutter (things that you do).

Remember those friends that are no longer as supportive as they used to be, no matter how nice people they are? How about the favorite pastime that drains you of energy instead of giving you the enthusiasm that it once did?

Whether the clutter is physical or not, it is important to recognize the signs as early as possibly. This way you'll be able to identify the kind of clutter you're dealing with.

Physical clutter is actually easy to manage. Nowadays, self storage facilities abound to meet the various needs of people. For instance, in Singapore homeowners use Singapore storage space as temporary storage for their personal belongings. Singapore storage companies now offer different sizes and rates for more competitive policies and rates.
